Description: 
Leather, brass, and iron cartridge box; rectangular black leather box with one horizontal and two vertical loops for shoulder belt riveted and sewn to rear, two iron buckles at bottom, an implement pocket on front, and double flaps with brass eagle perched atop globe and anchor on front, and strap that fastens to brass stud at bottom of box; stamped mark on inner flap.

According to accession records, this cartridge box was recovered from the U.S.S. Vandalia, which sank near Samoa in 1889.
