Bronze struck medal with obverse showing clothed bust of Martin Van Buren facing right with legend: "MARTIN VAN BUREN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES/A.D.1837." Reverse shows clasped hands below crossed peace pipe and tomahawk, with legend: "PEACE/AND/FRIENDSHIP."
