Copper struck medal with obverse showing clothed bust of Pope Gregory XIII facing left with legend: ".GREGORIVS.XIII.PONT.MAX.AN.I/.F.P." Reverse depicts winged figure of angel with sword and cross to the left of Huguenot massacre scene; legend above: "VGONOTTORVM.STRAGES.1572." Medal is inset into circular light green cardboard box.
