Description:
Bronze struck medal with obverse showing left-facing bust portrait of Christopher Columbus bareheaded with ruff collar, with legend "CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS". Reverse shows soldier in armor to left holding sword and flag, seated Native Americans to right; in exerg.: "CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS LANDING AND TAKING POSSESSION OF THE ISLAND WHICH HE NAMES SAN SALVADOR OCT.12 1492"
