Bronze struck medal with obverse showing front-facing bust-length portrait of Columbus bare-headed with legend "CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS DISCOVERER 1492." Reverse shows Columbus and group with cross in background. Legend: "400TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DISCOVERY OF AMERICA Oct . 12. 1892."
