Aluminum struck medal with obverse showing front-facing bust-length portrait and legend "CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS 1492-1892." Reverse shows Santa Maria inside legend: "FOUR HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY/ OF THE DISCOVERY OF AMERICA /CELEBRATED IN/ NEW YORK, OCT. 8 TO 12, 1892." Hole punched at top.
