Metal medal suspended from bar with pin back; upper bar depicting an anchor with eagle, sword and gun, inscription "NEW JERSEY VOLUNTEER"; cross- shaped medal with a laurel wreath surrounding New Jersey state seal; "SPANISH/AMERICAN/WAR/1898" on each cross end; upper bar connected to medal by two chain links.
