Brass medal suspended from bar with pin back; upper bar in the shape of an eagle encircled by a laurel wreath gripping an American flag shield; lower bar in the shape of an anchor with a rifle and sword; inscribed "UNITED"; medal shaped cross inscribed on each cross end "PHILIPPINE/ISLANDS/CUBA/PORTO RICO/USA"; depiction of two soliders and a woman at center; inscribed "SPANISH WAR VETERANS/1898-1902; reverse lower bar inscribed "65093"; cross ends inscribed "N/S/E/W" with "UNITED" at center over American flag; upper bar and lower bar connected by American flag silk ribbon; lower bar and medal connected by a link.
