Description:
Brass medal suspended from bar with pin back; upper bar in the shape of an eagle gripping an anchor and a laurel wreath; lower bar depicts a shield with a bayonet and sword; medal in the shape of a cross with each cross end inscribed "PHILIPPINE/ISLANDS/CUBA/PORTO RICO/U.S.A."; center of medal inscribed "SPANISH WAR VETERANS/1898-99" and depicts two soliders and a woman; reverse medal inscribed on each cross end "N/S/E/W"; at center inscribed "UNITED" over American flag lower bar and eagle connected by an American Flag silk ribbon; lower bar connects medal by a link.
