Bronze struck medal with obverse showing two female allegorical figures, Liberty, at left, and America, at right, shaking hands, with pedestal at center decorated with caduceus; legend around border: "MEDAL STRUCK BY THE UNITED PROVINCES OF THE NETHERLANDS 1782 IN HONOR OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE/LIBERA/SOROR."; inscripion in exergue: "SOLEMNI DECR. AGN./10 APR MDCCLXXXII." Reverse shows unicorn reclining against rocks with his horn broken; legend around border: "PRESENTED BY THE HOLLAND SOCIETY OF NEW YORK JANUARY 1904"; inscription in exergue: "SUB CALLIAE/AUSPICIIS."
