Description:
Two gold struck medals inset into elaborate wooden box covered in royal blue silk satin and velvet with light blue silk cord couched around exterior; white silk satin and black and dark blue silk velvet interior.
Gallery Label:
Elihu Root (1845-1937) was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1912. He served as Secretary of War under McKinley and Roosevelt (1899-1903) and as Secretary of State under Roosevelt (1905-1909). From 1909- 1915 he was a Republican Senator from New York.
