Description:
Medal suspended from ribbon attached to bar pin; (1) The Purple Heart, heart shaped medal suspended from purple and white ribbon; obverse purple heart with gold colored border and center profile of G. Washington, above enameled Washington's coat of arms; reverse, a raised heart "FOR MILITARY MERIT" "John M. Marsching " above U.S. Shield.
Gallery Label:
This bar of miniature medals awarded to J.H. Marsching includes the Purple Heart, the World War I Victory Medal and two New York State medals. The last medal is inscribed on the front "Chateau-Thierry Coste 204, Washington, Lafayette." The obverse reads: "La Victoire Apparat Chateau-Thierry, 18 Juliet 1918."
