Description: 
Medical staff sword with straight, double-edged steel blade with etched designs on obverse and reverse; blade is elliptical in cross section; brass hilt cast in three pieces: grip molded with acanthus leaves and a medallion bearing an American eagle on obverse and reverse, scrolled quillons separated by a shield on obverse and reverse, and pommel (missing); obverse shield bears the letters "M S" in applied silver(?) above seven stars molded in relief; brass scabbard with decorative upper and middle bands, the former with two carrying rings and the latter with one (now missing), tip with molded oak leaf and acorn panels on obverse and reverse, and symmetrical drag.
