Description:
Miniature badge of the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, a blue enamel cross with gold central medallion bordered in red; the obverse of the medallion bears portraits of King George V and Queen Mary. The reverse of the medallion shows the royal monogram surmounted by a crown.

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire was established by King George V in 1917, the first year of his reign, for service to the British Empire. It has 5 classes and a medal. The Commander is one of the five classes. This minature of the badge of the Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a smaller replica of the badge, designed to be worn in place of the full sized item.
