Description:
Wood and steel rifle; stamped marks on barrel at muzzle, breech, receiver, and at bottom of wrist.
Gallery Label:
The Model 1917 rifle was manufactured by the Winchester and Remington Arms Companies under federal contracts during World War I, using machines that had previously been used to produce Enfield rifles for the British government. According to accession records, this rifle was used during the war by the 7th Regiment, National Guards New York.
