Gallery Label:
This scale model of a steam locomotive was built by the donor's father between 1933 and 1939 from actual shop plans supplied by The New York Central Railroad. Mr. Lamar made wood patterns for all the parts and had them cast, then machined the pieces to tolerances of 1,000th of an inch. The model was on exhibit in the Railroad Building at the 1939 World's Fair and is still housed in the case in which it was exhibited at the Fair.
