Margaret Benson was the only daughter of Samson Benson, Jr. (1736-1821), and Mary (Sickels) Benson of New York. She married Andrew McGown (ca. 1742-1820) on November 21, 1784. Her portrait was a gift to the Society from her great-grandson.
