Gallery Label:
Catharine Baker was a native of Lancaster, Pa., and the wife of Frederick Eichelberger (1782-1869), a colonel in the militia during the War of 1812 and later a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1805-17). Her portrait, a gift to the Society from her great-grandnephew, and its companion were probably painted in Lancaster, where Eichholtz had his studio.
