Augusta Temple Schack was the daughter of Otto Wilhelm Christian Schack (1818-75), a native of Denmark, and Elizabeth Innes (McCarty) Schack of New York. She married George William Merritt (1856-1907) at Grace Church on October 26, 1881. She married her second husband, William Dalliba Dutton, at Trinity Chapel on June 1, 1911.
