Gallery Label:
Elizabeth Alexander was the daughter of James Alexander and a sister of William Alexander. She married John Stevens II (1716-1792) in 1748. They resided first in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, where Stevens was a merchant and in which state he owned large tracts of land. In 1760 the couple moved to New York.
