Description:
Silver struck medal with obverse showing standing allegorical female figure representing Abundance, holding laurel wreath in her right hand and cornucopia in left; stacks of wheat in background; inscription in exergue: "CERES"; surrounding legend: "NEW YORK STATE AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY." Reverse bears legend: "AWARDED TO" above an open wreath; engraved inscription at center: "Alfred Hale/for/Superior/Peppermint Oil/1860." Medal is inset into black square fitted leather case with red silk velvet interior.
