Description:
Cast silver Victorian nutmeg grater; cast, in two halves, and chased in the form of a nutmeg shell, hinged on one side; grater hinged on the inside; makers' marks on the bezel.
Gallery Label:
This nutmeg grater was used by Joshua Brookes (1773-1859), the great-grandfather of the donor, for seasoning hot toddies.
