Description:
Marine painting with a view of New York from the upper harbor; on the left is Fort Wood of Bedloe's Island (which is now Liberty Island), with an American flag flying above it; on the right is Governor's Island and Castle Williams; frigate in the center; other sailing vessels in background;clouds in the sky.
Gallery Label:
This painting was lent to the exhibition by John Disturnell (1801-1877) together with an engraving of the scene (no.57) by James Smillie (1807-1885).
