Description:
Dark blue double-breasted Infantry Inspector General's dress coat, with 1 1/4" dark blue velvet collar, attachments for epaulettes at the shoulders, 8 buttons down each side of the front,closed sleeves with false dark blue velvet cuffs with 3 buttons at each wrist; 4 panels at the back of the bodice, with 2 buttons near the center of the waistline, a button on each side of the split skirt; inside lined with dark green fabric, breast lightly padded and quilted, horizontal slit pocket at the right breast, vertical slit pocket at the left breast, 2 straps at the waistline with metal clasp buckle.
Gallery Label:
This dress coat was worn by Thomas Henry Barber while serving as Inspector General for the State of New York, 1889-1892. The Society also owns the trousers to this uniform.
