Description: 
Dark blue wool officer's double-breasted overcoat with closed double collar (2 sets hooks and eyes) and lapels; 5 buttons down each side of the front, horizontal slit pocket at the left breast, 8 3/4" wide sleeves (flat) with closed false cuffs (no buttons); 4 panels at the back of the bodice with 2 buttons near the center at the waistline with vertical pockets beneath, 2 sets of buttons near the center edge of split skirt; all buttons cast with an eagle above a shield, with "EXCELSIOR" across the bottom; front of coat and bodice lined with dark blue wool felt, back of skirt unlined, pockets lined with brown twill-weave cotton, horizontal slit pocket inside right breast, sleeves lined with red silk.
Gallery Label: 
This overcoat was worn by Colonel John T. Lockman during the Civil War. The Society also owns additional pieces of Lockman's uniform.
