Description:
Laminated rosewood "Henry Clay pattern" Rococo Revival sofa with beige corded velvet upholstery (not original); upholstered back with three carved crests with fruit and floral motifs above a border of double-scroll molding; serpentine front seat rail with floral carving at center; cabriole front legs with floral carving on knees and casters.

According to the donor, this piece is from a parlor suite made for her grandfather, Isaac John Greenwood I (1795-1865), a New York City resident. It then passed to Isaac John Greenwood II (1833-1911) and was inherited by the donor.
