Gallery Label:
John Ward Dunsmore (1856-1945) was one of America's leading painters of murals and historical subjects in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The N-YHS owns over fifty of his works. According to note attached to the original accession record, this palette is also linked to Asher B. Durand (1796-1886).
