Description:
Clear glass half-spherical paperweight, hollow, with acid-etched words on the top surface reading "American Silk Spinning Co./ Providence R.I." Inside the glass dome is a silk moth, a silk worm in a glass tube, silk worm eggs, a cocoon, and samples of fiber marked "combed stock", "spun silk", and "dyed spun silk". A paper glued to the bottom gives the history and explains the process of silk making.
