Gold colored, bug-shaped pin with a 1/4 inch circular pendant reading "SOUND MONEY".

The adoption of the Gold Standard was a big issue in the 1896 Presidential election. "Gold Bug" was the popular name given to Democrats who split with their party on the issue and supported the gold standard, which was supported by William McKinley (1843-1901) and the Republican Party.
