Gallery Label:
This button was worn by a member of Students for a Democratic Society, a student activist movement representing the country's New Left. The organization was started in the mid-1960s and expanded rapidly, but was dissolved at its last convention in 1969. A faction of SDS formed the Weather Underground, identified by the FBI as a "domestic terrorist group."
