A large beige pinback campaign button with a picture of a shoe with a large hole worn through the sole surrounded by the words in red, black and beige "Think/ Don't let this happen to You!/ Vote For Ike". Dwight David Eisenhower, "Ike", (1890-1969) -- Republican; general in the U.S. Army during World War II; President of the United States, 1953-61; President of Columbia University 1948-53; and from 1971 to 1978, his portrait appeared on the U.S. dollar coin.
