Description:
Pearlware molded white bodied clay plate with scalloped edge; printed brown with central view of harbor and Island City, two seated figures, rider on horseback in lush foreground, all in medallion with baskets of roses and fan-shaped medallions border.

The view of Manhattan on this plate is derived from a drawing by J. Dupre which was printed by Fenner, Sears & Co, and publisehd in London in 1831.
