Description:
Rectangular ivory pocket calendar with rounded lower edge; silver hinge clasp at top and pin at bottom; calendar opens to reveal six ivory pages which open like a fan, each marked Monday through Saturday; silver shield-shaped mount in center engraved "Egbert Benson./Ald. 3d Ward./1841." Slot at side to hold pencil (missing).
Gallery Label:
This pocket calendar belonged to Egbert Benson (1789-1866), an alderman of New York from 1835-41, 45-46 and its President, 1836-38.
