Description:
Silver pocket watch in silver casing; casing has open front to reveal white enamel dial with hours designated by letters "SCHERMERHORN"; arabic numeral minute markings; convex glass face; hour, minute and second hands; long cylindrical pendant stem with flat knob and stirrup bow; filigree balance cock. Blue watch paper (1858) of Fred'k Lockwood, clock and watch maker. Second watch paper is plain brown.

This watch probably belonged to Peter Schermerhorn (1749-1826), ship chandler of New York City or possibly to his son, John Peter Schermerhorn (1775-1831).
