Description:
Silver pocket watch with round knob and round bow; brass movement hinged into silver casing with glass facing; foliate champ levé engraved table and balance cock on back of movement; white enamel dial; black roman numeral hours with minute markings; hour hand; back of casing opens to wind.
Gallery Label:
This watch belonged to navigator Moses Rogers (1779-1822). In 1808 Rogers commanded the "Clermont." He later designed and commanded the "Savannah," the first steamship to cross the Atlantic, 1818.
