Description:
Silver pocket watch in silver casing with watch papers; silver casing with engraving on reverse side and circular opening on the front to view dial; clasp to open case; watch papers on the bottom of casing. Silver watch with silver dial; roman numeral hours; arabic numeral minute markings; hour and minute hands; foliate filigree balance cock, foot and movement casing; circular pendant knob with stirrup bow.
Gallery Label:
This watch was owned by and brought to New York by the Rev. John Bartow, A.M., a missionary sent from England by the Propagation Society to the Province of New York (1702-1725). The watch was later given by Clarina Bartow to her grandsom, William A. Duncan, who gave it to his daughter, Frances Jane Duncan, the donor.
