Description: 
N-YHS Museum Collection Silver pocket watch with double-covered, open-faced case, with key, in case; case has glass face cover and long cylindrical pendant, flat round pendant knob and stirrup bow; white ceramic face with arabic numeral hours and minute markings; hour hand and clover minute hand; foliate balance cock; engraved silver regulator; maker's marks on inside of back casing; gold plated watch key with foliate ring at top; head in the shape of a stringed lyre with foliate decorations; straight jaw.
Gallery Label: 
This pocket watch was donated by a direct descendant of Jan Jansen Bleecker (1642-1732), an early mayor of Albany who arrived in 1658, and is said to have belonged to him. However, the stylistic features of the pocket watch suggest that it was made in the late eighteenth century.
