Description:
Gold struck medal with obverse showing kneeling female figure with painter's palette and brushes, Greek statue and eagle; swags on either side are inscribed: "SCULPTURE," at left, and "PAINTING," at right. Reverse shows polygonal tablet with decorative surround, inscribed: "THE/POTTER-PALMER/GOLD MEDAL/AWARDED TO/SERGEANT/KENDALL/THE.ART.INSTITUTE./OF/CHICAGO/1910." Rectangular dark brown leather case with cream-colored silk velvet and silk satin lining.
