Inscribed at lower right in brown ink: "The Captn./ JOHN GRAHAM.", followed by a brief history of the horn and its owners; inscribed on verso in graphite: Capt. Graham (probably [?] of Van Cortlandt's N.Y. Regt.) / served in the Onondaga expedition, 1779, under Van Schaik. / He is there only mentioned as Capt. Graham, & I am not sure / that Cortlandt's regiment was represented. -- Sullivan's [?] / [?], p. 17 & c. The same year, however, or in 1780, properly, / Maj. John Graham appears in Van Schaick's Regiment (1st N.Y.) after / N.Y. regiments were consolidated, -[?] 196. [?] / W. M. Bra[?] / Baldwinsville
