Description:
White painted leather firefighters' presentation shield presented to Knickerbocker No. 12 by Americus Engine Co. No. 6; upper half with "AMERICUS ENGINE Co." in applied lettering on recessed, red painted panel, with recessed, black painted "6" with embroidered shields and scrolling floral motif flanked by painted fire engines below; lower half with "KNICKERBOCKER" in applied lettering on recessed, red painted panel flanked by two oval tintype portraits, with applied, black painted leather "12" surrounded by painted allegory of Liberty, greyhound(?) dog, and elderly man in Revolution period costume below; green painted vine border; enclosed under glass in deep, heavily molded, brown painted oval frame.
