Description:
Rectangular brown leather purse (pocketbook) with unsecured top flap closure, there are six compartments inside, accordioned along the outer sides.
Gallery Label:
This pocketbook belonged to Captain Thomas Greenleaf (1755-1798), who fought in the Revolutionary War. He was a printer/newspaper publisher. He put out the New-York Journal and Weekly Register (est. 1787), the New-York Journal and Patriotic Register (est. 1790), and the Argus, or, Greenleaf's New Daily Register (est. 1795).
