Description:
Pieced cotton quilt with geometric pattern composed of rectangular and triangular beige, brown, red, blue, and green print pieces; tied, with a single row of large square pieces along one edge; brown on brown print backing.
Gallery Label:
This quilt passed through several generations of the Vail family, according to information supplied by the donor. Its original owners were probably Luther Vail (1785-1871) and Mary (Smith) Vail (1786-1856), the donor's great-grandfather and great-grandmother.
