Description:
Pieced predominantly white cotton quilt with repeated octagonal figure composed of brown, red, and blue striped, printed, and plaid pieces; tied with brown, red, blue, and green yarn; brown on beige floral print backing.
Gallery Label:
This quilt passed through several generations of the Vail family, according to information supplied by the donor. Its original owners were probably Luther Vail (1785-1871) and Mary (Smith) Vail (1786-1856), the donor's great-grandfather and great-grandmother.
