A gold colored metal medal with a long red and black ribbon. The top pin bar is a rectangular frame inset with a paper printed in black "Member". It is attached to the lower medallion by two lengths of chain links. The lower medallion is a circular frame with embossed flourishes around a central white celluloid button with a red and blue shield with gold calipers over a right-angle ruler and an arm holding a hammer and the letters "Jr.O.U.A.M./ Virtue Liberty Patriotism". A long red and black ribbon with copper and silver metallic fringe supports the medal and is stamped in gold "Lynbrook/ Council, No. 12/ Jr. O.U.A.M./ Lynbrook, N.Y." This medal appears to represent a chapter of the Free Masons, a mysterious and centuries old fraternal order involved in ritual celebrations, community and political service, moral education and philanthropy.
