Description:
Two iron rivets (one in two pieces) from the tomb of Ulysses S. Grant; taken when the tomb was opened in 1902 for Mrs. Grant's body; rivets have thick cylindrical body and domed circular head.

These rivets were taken from Grant's tomb in 1902 when Mrs. Grant's body was interred alongside her husband's. The monument is located near the intersection of Riverside Drive and West 122nd Street, and is the final resting place of President Ulysses S. Grant (1822-1885) and his wife Julia Dent Grant (1826-1902).
