Bronze struck medal with obverse depicting equestrian statue of Louis XIII, facing right, with view of Versailles in background; legend above: ".JARDIN.DV.ROY.POVR.LA CVLTVRE.DES.PLANTES.MEDICINALES."; inscription in exergue: "LOVIS.XIII.PAR.VN.EDIT.DE.MAI.1635./ETABLIT.LE.JARDIN.DES.PLANTES./AV.FAVBOVRG.SAINT.VICTOR./AVEC.GVY.DE.LA.BROSSE./INTENDANT." Reverse depicts three seated female figures holding attributes of sciences; inscription above: ".BOTANIQVE./.ANATOMIE.CHIMIE."; in exergue: "1635 - 1935." Medal is inset into square dark purple cardboard box.
