Description: 
Sword with curved, single-edged steel blade; white sheet metal guard that curves in a continuous sweep from pommel to bottom of hilt, creating a smoothly rounded half-basket form; grip covered with fish skin and wrapped with wire; white metal scabbard with one carrying ring and drag.

According to the accession records, this sword was acquired by the donor's husband, Colonel James Guthrie Harbord (1866-1947), while serving as Assistant Chief of Philippines Constabulary, U. S. Army, from 1903 to 1914.
