Description:
Tortoise shell sake cup decorated with three gold lacquered fans painted along interior. Fans depict scenes of chrysanthemums and cranes, herons, and a landscape.
Gallery Label:
Sake cups made in tortoise shell were not commonly used by the Japanese and primarily made for the export market.
