stamped: on the base: lion passant conforming, leopard's head crowned in a cartouche, "e" in a cartouche; "I W" between a cross and a star in a circle
Description:
Wrought silver salt; shallow, bowl-shaped body curved to applied, flared lip; three cabriole legs applied to the base with molded pad junctures and molded pad feet; maker's marks stamped on the base.
Gallery Label:
This saltcellar belonged to the miniature painter John Ramage (ca. 1748-1802).
