Description:
Vertical rectangular linen sampler stitched in various colors of silk floss; verse and inscription in center, geometric floral designs at the top, bottom and bordering all sides; cross and satin stitches.

Elizabeth Hallowell was the great-grandmother of Anna Gillingham. The sampler may have been worked by the Elizabeth Hallowell that was born January 3, 1811 in Abington, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
